BambooHR is a comprehensive and easy-to-use HR software

4.0 last year

Comments: In terms of HR functions, BambooHR handles everything. Our human resources department and management can benefit much from this system. BambooHR serves many uses for many divisions. Every day, the human resources team uses BambooHR because it is quick, simple, and easy to use.

Pros:

This HR management system is both feature-rich and user-friendly. The user interface is made user- and administrator-friendly. The site is user-friendly, and my staff appreciates how straightforward the features are.

Cons:

One of BambooHR's less enticing characteristics, in my opinion, is its pricing structure. We are a very young company, thus cost-effectiveness is of paramount importance. Unfortunately, it appears that BambooHR's rates are out of reach for startups like ours.

Very positive experience!

Comments: Overall, a very positive experience. The home page/dashboard is very handy and for hiring purposes its great!

Pros:

I really like all the features, I mostly use it for hiring and it makes viewing candidates very easy!

Cons:

The most recent update has changed the look of the platform and I'm not a huge fan of it. There could also be better reporting to come from the hiring section.

Comments: BambooHR has been a great product for a quickly expanding.

Pros:

Design, user-friendly, easy of use, easy to set up.

Cons:

Would like file signature to work differently. It would be great if forms were available to all employees to just fill out and then it would move through the pre-set approval process. Not require a form to be emailed by a management member to someone or themselves to fill out. Would also like training to be more robust and have more function. Especially would like to see training assignments as of a specific date entered rather than hire date. Would also like employees not to see future trainings until 30 days before the due date. Seeing annual training all year is confusing to them and they get desensitized to seeing that training and ignore it when it comes due again.

A great tool for people and employment management

4.0 last month New

Comments: we've been using BambooHR for over 6 years, overall very satisfied with the product. It makes our team collaboration much easier. I just wish it can be integrated with other payroll system such as ADP.

Pros:

Very user-friendly, easy to explore and find the functions, not much training is needed. I also like the fact that we're able to customize the reports we need.

Cons:

The notification feature is not very flexible. For example, we're able to get the notification when there's a addition or termination. but can't get one if there's an internal transfer. therefore we have to notify other teams out side of BHR.

One of the best things I've done for my organization

5.0 2 months ago

Comments: BambooHR has been a huge upgrade to our HR processes here, which were previously paper based. Our onboarding process is so much smoother due to sending documents for review and signing in advance, having more transparency of personnel files where possible, seamless tracking of sick, vacation, and bereavement time. Also, many of our staff are outdoor, seasonal employees who might not have access to our Organization email or server. I use Bamboo to provide access to files like the Handbook and incident reporting forms, which staff can access from their devices.

Pros:

PTO transparency, built in reports for tracking time off, last time wages were updated, communication of staff taking time off, timesheet feature, recording time by project, announcements.

Cons:

Integrations with other platforms don't always work as expected.

Great for our organization

4.0 2 months ago

Comments: Overall it's been fantastic and we're excited to continue to integrate it into our organization. We're all set up with benefits administration and payroll is likely next!

Pros:

It's simple enough for our organization who is new to using an HRIS. Our staff also skews older, and it's easy enough for them to use as well

Cons:

There are small things that it shouldn't be able to do that it doesn't - like allowing us to set up our contribution scheme based on salary or allow us to assign tasks to employees without it being considered an onboarding task.

Big Fan of BambooHR

5.0 4 months ago

Comments: I inherited this product when I came into my position as HR Director. I loved how easy it was to use from the beginning! I even chose to dive deeper into all that we use it for and my employees love it just as much as I do! The BEST part, when I have an issue that I need to call support on, they are always so friendly and helpful! Best customer service in my book!

Pros:

I love it's simple format! I use it as my brain for HR as I move away from too many spreadsheets. I love how everything is available and at my fingertips quickly. My employees love it too! The app makes everything so much easier for them and they appreciate having the information easily available and can self-service most things. I just LOVE it so much!

Cons:

There are a few features that could be easier to use for inputting our data. Since we have a church we have some unique payroll things that are doable just not as easy as I feel they could be.

BambooHR is a winner!

4.0 6 months ago

Comments: Overall, I'll give BambooHR an 8 out of 10 rating. I think for the pricing, I'd give it a 10 out of 10. It offers good core functionality and ease of use. I'm quite impressed and happy with our selection.

Pros:

Bamboo is easy to use, even for a non-tech/HRIS person. We were able to use the HR team w/ the support of the BHR team to design and buildout. Additionally, it is easy for employees to use--very intuitive. We were also able to use this platform globally, whereas other platforms didn't have the capability.

Cons:

BHR still is in the younger stages of buildout. There is some functionally that I had with other HRIMs that are missing from Bamboo including a more defined benefits platform and more integration capability.

Bamboo HR is a fantastic HRIS tool for a business looking to enhance their people & HR capability

4.0 7 months ago

Comments: Bamboo was a brilliant tool to use to get us into using HRIS and introducing HR to our business. It ultimately didn't scale to our needs as we exploded as a company but we couldn't have got where we are today without it.

Pros:

Bamboo HR was incredibly simple to implement with excellent documentation which enabled us to have Bamboo set up very quickly. It is definitely one of the most user friendly tools and we implemented this without a HR team so that shows how intuitive the platform is. Bamboo HR also has a fantastic array of integrations which is pretty critical. We used Officevibe and then Lattice for peformance management so we seamlessly integrated this tying together our tech stack.

Cons:

Bamboo HR lacked a lot of features that we needed as we started scaling. We moved to Rippling due to a number of limitations with the Bamboo platform like password management, a stronger ATS etc so we could vertically consolidate our stack under one platform.

Great application for Company Management

5.0 4 months ago

Comments: Overall, I really enjoy using it because it really enhances the relationship between HR and employees with any incessant need for direct communication and everything is tracked.

Pros:

I like the ease of the application and how quickly you can request for leaves or look at other people on leave as well. I wish that we could put in our own color profile as a personal setting, rather than stick to the one that the company has chosen. For example, HR has chosen the color orange, and I would like to change the color to Blue as a personal setting.

Cons:

I would like to see different views available for people on leave. For example, within teams, I would like to see that a person has blocked off a day for an annual leave and can't apply on that day because it's already taken by somebody else. It helps employees under teams recognize that another team member might be out that day and they may not get an approval. I would like to see flexibility on the way hours are plotted for a workday. For example, within our company we have to use percentages like 0.25 to describe a quarter day and because we have an 8-hour workday sometimes we need to take leave for only 1 hour or 1/2 hour and there is a difficulty in plotting that as a leave.

BambooHR brilliant HR tool to start your business with

4.0 4 months ago

Comments: Overall, it is a great to for small companies that don't have too many resources to track time logging, vacations, sicknesses, direct reports, etc, and have quick analysis on the distribution both in terms of age, gender, location, etc.

Pros:

The API to google calendar and the user friendly interface

Cons:

I'd really enhance the process to see review people time logging. It is hard to track on an overall basis who is missing, who has reported 'x' or 'y' hours so I can quickly check if that's is ok, etc.

The best decision we made as an organization!

5.0 10 months ago

Comments: I have been very happy with my overall experience and enjoy the consistency it has brought to my department and the company as a whole.

Pros:

I came on board with all employee and contractor files in paper form and it was hard to stay consistent in knowing what everyone had at every location. This enables me to clear up missing documentation and provide important documents to everyone in a consistent and timely manner.

Cons:

All the features we use at this time are beneficial. I would like to have an easier option to pull reports without having to create a report every time I want to view or pull information quickly.

Pros:

Good value for small companies

4.0 10 months ago

Comments: Overall, BambooHR is a good quality solution at an affordable price. Just know going into it that you're not getting the top of the line system with all of the customizations and bells and whistles of other software. They're rolling out updates all the time so I'm hopeful that it will continue to improve over time.

Pros:

BambooHR is relatively easy to implement - not overly complicated. Some HRIS companies spend 12 weeks on implementation but BambooHR's implementation process is based around 5 or 6 one hour phone calls and their implementation specialists do a nice job of walking you through everything. The system is simple and intuitive for our blue collar employees. It's an affordable HRIS solution for small to medium businesses who don't need a super robust platform.

Cons:

It's not as customizable as they make it seem. There have been quite a few functions that I expected that it would have the capabilities to do and I just get told "no, the system can't do that". They have good customer service response time but you're routed to anyone in the queue so there's no consistency of an Account Manager or dedicated support person. And their benefits administration solution is not nearly developed enough yet, in my opinion. If you're currently using a separate benadmin solution, leave it where it is until Bamboo has made some major improvements on their version.

Bamboo took us to the next level

5.0 6 months ago

Comments: It's been great. The few times we couldn't figure something out ourselves, Bamboo has excellent help documents and Bamboo's support is quick and extremely helpful.

Pros:

It's convenient, well organized, helps us meet compliance requirements and provide better support to our employees. Love the performance management tools and the employee satisfaction surveys.

Cons:

Not really a con, but took us a couple of tries to get onboarding process perfected.

Time clock for diverse team

5.0 7 months ago

Pros:

We used to clock in from a punch-in/punch-out machine - no security at all since anyone can punch it in and out for you. That's when DDF decided to move things to Bamboo HR, I like that we can clock in on our phone, it saves us the trip to the building where the punch-in/punch-out machine is located and then to our designated sales booth/kiosk.

Cons:

What I didn't like is if you miss clocking in or out, you will have to reach out to HR and they have to make the changes for you. When I was with a different company, we used TimeDoctor, it lets you make the changes for yourself, provide evidence, and then it will be sent to HR for approval. It saves my time and the HR personnel's time.

An win for employers and employees

5.0 7 months ago

Comments: Overall, I find BambooHR to be user-friendly whether you are an administrator or a common user. It gives you access to many critical features, keeping users from having to seek information in several different platforms.

Pros:

I use BambooHR both as an employee and as an employer. As an employee, I enjoy being able to update my own info without having to bother the director of HR, as well as consult company holidays, request time-off, sign documents, etc. As the HR Head Assistant, I love being able to find all the information I need to issue reports for both my team and the Legal & Compliance as well as the Investor Relations Team. It is great having hiring dates, titles, promotions, who's out, etc all in one dashboard.

Cons:

Creating forms on BambooHR can be a bit challenging, and managing access levels for other people can be tricky, too.

A Solid System That's Not Too Complicated

4.0 last year

Pros:

Its easy to use and customize, and you can heavily customize the access levels which obviously around HR stuff, is essential.

Cons:

It was built for a US market, so I don't think some of the features for Canadian users were as ideal for a long time, especially around time tracking/stats
