Works well but has limitations for large counseling programs

4.0 5 years ago

Comments: This keeps our program running well and all the counselors can stay on top of their paperwork. It has it's limitations but it is working fine for us.

Pros:

It is very intuitive and easy to learn how to use the basic functions. All our staff use it daily and generally can use all of the needed functions with limited training. The price is reasonable and the support is pretty good. They are friendly and understand the problem.

Cons:

We have found several limitations for our counseling center: 1) we see multiple members in a family with different counselors. You cannot create more than one account with one email. So if there is only 1 parent and 2 children that need to be seen we need to be creative in how to get intake paperwork to them. 2) Some of the forms are not customizable. We tried to use our own Intake and Treatment Plans, but then none of it had interface with the other features, so we went back to using their forms, but they are not in the format we need for Medicaid and for our own needs. 3) we do assessments to track progress. They recently added a few basic standardized assessment tools, but we would prefer to use our own that we developed. So we need to use Survey Monkey for that function. Generally we would prefer a product we can tailor more to our program needs, but realize this would cost a lot more. So for the money, this is an adequate product for us.

Therapy Brands Response

Hi Linda! Thank you for the thoughtful review! We are glad to hear that TheraNest is working for you with your large practice! We understand that the type of animal assisted therapy you provide comes with it's own unique needs, and while we offer some customization of our clinical documentations you are looking for more. Rest assured we are always working to improve upon our product and it's customer feedback like yours that helps us get there. Thank you for these suggestions!

Repeated failure to provided necessary tax info in timely manner

2.0 2 weeks ago New

Comments: They get 2 stars because their customer service is polite and responsive. The product is ok, but issues that impact my ability to do business is very frustrating and incredibly time consuming.

Pros:

Convenience of having comprehensive EHR software.

Cons:

Although their response to an issue is quick, it can take an exceptionally long time to resolve it. One example, the appointment times on my daily agenda were showing appointments in PST and I am in EST, it took almost 8 weeks to resolve. The past 4 years they haven't provided a timely 1099K, it takes repeated requests to receive it in March!!

Helpful for Private Practice

4.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: I like it, I wish the credit card company transition was going smoother.

Pros:

I like having clients profiles all in one place, and the Wiley treatment planning! I also like how as a small practice I can set my price based on number of clients I have in the system. I like the tiered system!

Cons:

The credit card processing has been clunky.

Needs better support

4.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: TheraNest has been working for me most of the time. I have had issues with not being able to speak with anyone over the phone to address an ongoing issue I have with dating assessments for clients and dating the assessment document accurately as well as addressing Medicaid client requirements and documentation.

Pros:

It is easy to setup and had most of the documents that I use already created.

Cons:

I cannot change the intake date so that I date my initial assessment document accurately and not date it for the day the client is entered into the system. The initial assessment form also cannot be duplicated.

Happy with Theranest

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: I am very happy that I chose Theranest for my EHR system.

Pros:

Theranest works well, is efficient, and tech staff are on top of glitches immediately.

Cons:

Sometimes it moves a little slow, but this goes for all EHR software. And by a little slow, I mean maybe half a second to a full second for the page to load. Most of the time it is instant.

Depends On Your Needs

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: It was decent. They have superb customer service. I really liked how attentive they are to your needs and are very open to making sure your issues are resolved.

Pros:

Uploading documents into client's charts was a breeze. It made it easy for my staff and I to review charts electronically. The calendar feature is very user-friendly.

Cons:

It was very difficult to figure out how to co-sign on my staff notes. I needed this function and found it hard to set up. Setting up each staff person was a little difficult.

Theranest I Outstanding

5.0 4 weeks ago New

Comments: My overall experience is a 10 out of 10. Some of my collleagues chose another platform, but I liked Theranest so much that I stayed with this platform

Pros:

I live Theranest very much. I has all of he functionlality that I need to manage a successful private practice. The reporting system and the ach payment functions are outstandinding. Techical support is outstanding with a rich knowoedge base, online chat and voice to voice support make problem resolution easy and seamless.

Cons:

I don't really have anything really here. It is dissappointing when there is a system problem - but these seem to be resolved quickly.

TheraNest--Not the best, not the worse.

4.0 3 months ago

Comments: My overall experience with TheraNest is okay--it's a love-hate relationship. The forms are not as dynamic as they seem compared to other EHRs, and you cannot send client documents other than intake/consent forms. There is no option to separate child and parent profiles for consent--you have to either put the parent's email in the child's profile or provide paper consent forms to the parent. You cannot link parent-child relationships and customize client details to accommodate your practice.

Pros:

The support team and support portal have been very helpful and timely.

Cons:

TheraNest's "dynamic" forms are not as dynamic compared to other EHR for therapists. It takes so long to create the most basic form in TheraNest and you cannot duplicate questions. You cannot edit the client details tab to customize it to your practice nor can you send clients documents in TheraNest to sign or view outside of consent forms. I have used other EHRs at other practices, and TheraNest seems to have the least features and easability.

Review for Theranest

4.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: Overall, I enjoy theranest, for the ease when it comes to doing the dreaded part of therapy notes and treatment plans. I believe it could become user friendly when it comes to how a clinician is using the site and for our clients when uploading their information to the site as well.

Pros:

I like the ability for me to do notes quickly and effectively with the prompts. This also allows me to do treatment plans efficiently as well.

Cons:

I don't like the way the client information is set up and not user friendly. It is kind of condensed and just not professional enough and clear when trying to access information easily.

Constantly Improving

5.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: I have been using TN for about 2.5 years now. I am exceedingly pleased with the improvements made since I have started using it. The support team is fast and helpful. I highly recommend giving TN a try!

Pros:

It is very user friendly (which is much appreciated for training new users) and always improving!

Cons:

The chat feature can be a bit glitchy on occasion but the support team is quick to respond and troubleshoot, other than that I have no particular complaints.

Theranest is mostly good.

4.0 3 weeks ago New

Comments: I use it on a daily basis. Recently, I have had to use a different browser as it failed to load properly with Microsoft Edge.

Pros:

Theranest is easy to use, especially in a paper-free environment. I also like how easy it is to interface with insurance companies. Lastly, it incorporates many features you would want in a therapy platform, appointments, forms, reminders, etc.

Cons:

Some of the changes they made to streamline scheduling made it harder. Often get messages of an error that I have to ignore.

Ruined my Billing

1.0 last year

Comments: It's been awful. Their services are so terrible, the customer service is none existance, it almost forced me to close my business because of the billing issues Theranest created by using there in house billing. Worse, THEY DO NOT CARE! There is no customer service, only a chat bot and a random email that say "a ticket has been created". No one ever helps you to resolve your issue. Now I'm missing thousnads of dollars in claims and can't find a way to correct it. I've been in private practice for 10 years and always used office ally and always managed my own billing. I should not have left office ally. DO NOT TRUST YOUR FINANCES AND BUSINESS AT THERANEST!

Pros:

It was a find product 5 years ago and worked primarily ok until Theranest offered for me to use their integrated billing system. I thought I was saving myself energy, time and money. The opposite has happened. I've had to switch EHRs because they took over my system and completely lost all of my bills, I have no way to track them, they are gone. They will not call me to help. I've lost thousands of dollars because of their billing system.

Cons:

They offered integrated and managed billing. It never worked, they never assisted me with help, and now I am missing thousands in claims. I can not figure out how to fix it. Everything was find using Office Ally, and then I switched to Apex at their recommendation. I'm so upset. It has created hours and months of distress and they only feign a response. I'm constantly told "I'll create a ticket for this" and then they never get back to me, or deny accountability for there even being a problem. They are like working with another insurance company. I will never recommend this EHR. I will actively advise against it.

Prevents you from leaving the EHR

4.0 last year

Comments: Thumbs down. Too long to respond to tech support. Ignored me for a week and still doing so to open up my deletion period and generally do not have a fix for the answer so, you just cope with it.

Pros:

Theranest had ease of navigation inside their system for the most part.

Cons:

If you do not use their clearing house, they charge you extra and then start messing up your EDI and billing. They will NOT allow you to manage your charts in a timely manner when trying to leave their system. I have been trying to leave their system since August and it is now October. Because they are making it difficult to leave, it is forcing me to pay for a system at a high price that I am not using. For example, you have to delete everything one at a time, and then they only let you delete 3 people a day. So, they are making bank because I cannot leave their system from their lock down of MY CHARTS. Imagine when you have almost a thousand or more people to exit the system how this impacts you financially as a business owner. So, essentially, I am paying for 2 EHRs.
