Aha! is an excellent product management system

Comments: A very user-friendly and straightforward interface. It's fantastic that a single platform can be used to oversee everything from product to service management to strategic planning to operational reporting.

Pros:

A fantastic tool for project managers to use as a roadmap organizer. The ideas are fantastic, and the integration with Jira at the tactical level of engineering is functioning smoothly. Additional sophisticated features, such as various business modules, aid in the strategic direction of PM.

Cons:

It's odd that there aren't any external roadmap samples or case studies available from the makers of one of the greatest roadmap products in the world to aid with the design of your personal external roadmap.

Powerful and flexible (tread with care)

Comments: For all it's flaws, I love this product. It lets me do what I want, how I want (and I can be quite demanding).

Pros:

The best thing about this product is the huge flexibility resulting from the degree of customisation that is available. This is dangerous if mishandled, obviously, but in a company where processes are evolving, it has allowed me to accommodate all manner of requests and requirements.

Cons:

The UI can be a little inconsistent. Many features are paywalled; I'm constantly being upsold as if I'm on a freemium version. Some of the tools are a little unloved (text editing is clunky and unreliable, some presentation tools lack flexibility). And navigation isn't the smoothest.

Alternatives Considered: Trello, Craft.io, monday.com and Productboard

Reasons for Switching to Aha!: Huge flexibility to mould it to our (changing) processes, and to capture eveything.

Comments: Would never recommend.

Pros:

Cool logo. Good space to house personas and competitor analysis.

Cons:

In the initial onboarding process I would contact customer support for clarity, seeing as how I've never used such a software. I had one phone call, fairly short. I was later tasked with sole responsibility for the software - evangelizing and coaching others on how to use it. When I reached out to support for more clarity, the reps did EVERY possible not to get on a call with me. They would email me back every other day - directing me to instructional videos - refusing to get on the phone. I needed to integrate with Jira, "Please HELP!!??"- guess what? "We have some videos that can help you. Awful support. As well, not very user friendly, not customizable, and just down right inferior cosmetically.

Never going back to Jira

Comments: Fantastic overall. So impressed with the product, as well as the service. Would definitely recommend.

Pros:

Very powerful software, and almost no learning curve compared to Jira. So much more intuitive despite having a ton of advanced capabilities. I especially love how easy it is to share information with non-users, without having to manually update spreadsheets or slide decks.

Cons:

The Roadmaps pricing is a bit steep, but the Develop pricing is affordable enough that it makes up for it.

Alternatives Considered: Trello

Reasons for Choosing Aha!: Tired of Jira's illogical UX and unnecessary complexity.

Switched From: Jira

Reasons for Switching to Aha!: Aha! was more flexible in terms of which software development methodologies we could practice; Trello was too purpose-built for Kanban and Linear was too specific to Scrum.

Powerful and customizable solution for PMs with a steep learning curve

Pros:

Aha Ideas provides flexibility, security, and automation, allowing us to interact with customers at scale in a fashion that fits our business. Aha Roadmaps+ offers a very compelling product planning tool that integrates directly with our Jira instance. Aha regularly updates both products with new and compelling features. Aha also reaches out on a regular basis to check in, showcase new things, and troubleshoot any issues we're having.

Cons:

The seat-based licensing model prevents us from fully adopting Aha Roadmaps as our standard planning tool. Doing so would require our program managers, engineering managers, and designers to have paid seats. Also, as with other highly customizable tools, it's very confusing for the uninitiated. We've had to create extensive internal documentation for onboarding new product managers. Finally, we've been asking for a SOC2 report for years, Aha hasn't been willing to undertake this (ISO27001 is not equivalent).

Great Customer Service

Comments: Our customer support experience was great. The product is extremely sophisticated, and offers a wide range of functionalities for companies that are looking to have all teams in one space.

Pros:

Although we did not move forward with Aha as our solution, we had a wonderful experience with the Customer Support and Product Team. They were extremely supportive and helpful, and they were very gracious when meeting with us. We decided to go with another solution because of our unique and specific need; this was not caused by a bad experience or lack of functionality.

Cons:

There are some features in Aha - Ideas that we were looking for.

Alternatives Considered: Jira and monday.com

Reasons for Switching to Aha!: We decided to move forward with a different product, but this was not because of a bad experience or lack in Aha functionality.

Aha takes product roadmapping to the next level

Comments: Aside from having every feature a product manager could dream of, working with Aha through the purchase process has been a very positive experience. Their customer support is fast, friendly, and helpful. I know if I had additional questions or needed help , their team would be there.

The only software option for a quality Product Manager to use!

Comments: Always extremely positive. I love the platform and I am delighted by the quality and friendliness of the employees. You make my projects look good!

Pros:

They really have thought of everything! The platform has such comprehensive functionality, everything you could need to plan, deliver and communicate your product releases. With so much content, it's a tough job to ensure users can easily learn and get value from the platform but this company is Best in Class at demo's; KB articles, how to videos and live training sessions. Everything is super clear and easy to learn. Why wouldn't you want this as a Product Manager?

Cons:

Sometimes the sheer volume of "what's possible" can be overwhelming. Simple things can be hard to figure out because you didn't notice this one setting that is active. With that said, the times that I have needed to figure something out, the articles are super clear and the response time for support is unreal.

There isn't anything specifically, sometimes I feel it is a bit barebones, but when deploying to tons of users and customers, it honestly is better that way

Best customer service, hands down!

Comments: Aha! is so robust. I am learning so much, but it is already making a great impact on the transparency that we needed with our team. Having watchers on projects and activities and the ability to tag anyone that's just a viewer or reviewer is fantastic! We manage over 100 events a year and more than 40 sales people, so keeping them in the loop with our progress is great. It's helping us get out of some paper/e-doc templates that we can now have built into our project card templates so all information can be entered there for ease of reference. I believe that we can pull reports on any field as well. The presentation and reporting features offer a lot. It's a matter of us determining the best views for our team. Their customer service team is outstanding! They respond super fast and are always helpful. They will get on a quick 30 minute call to talk through and walk through issues to empower you to get it right! I know I'm driving them bonkers right now with so many questions.

Pros:

Aha! allows you to tie higher level goals to initiatives that can dial down to the most granular level. We wanted the capability to pull reports for our C-level executives to see what we're working on and our previous project management system didn't have that as an option.

Cons:

We also loved the workflow features, however there's a little snag in the way we need to visually see our activities and tasks so, unfortunately, right now they don't have the capability to have a true workflow (phases and milestones) tied in with our processes because they get buried in the top level schedule/project. Since we work in the marketing world, our processes are different than the product release projects. If we could have the phases and milestones as a part of the activities so that if we push back the project (schedule) date or postpone in the status field that it would push back all assigned dates accordingly - that would be ideal. Right now, we are managing manually... The notifications are another issue. There's a LOT of notifications that come through my email on a daily basis. Even though I have it set to a daily and weekly digest on each workspace, I still receive too many emails for every task completed or created in projects that I follow. But I don't get an email when somebody comments on something, I have to go to my notifications for that. The my work view is really robust as well. Once you get the hang of where you need to look, it's helpful. However, the naming convention of the records doesn't allow you to know right away which task is tied to a particular project, so we're trying to make sure that we title the tasks and activities accordingly - but that's tough to do manually for project templates with generic tasks.

Alternatives Considered: Asana

Reasons for Choosing Aha!: We needed transparency, a department wide overview of all projects and campaigns that we could easily share with the powers that be. There was little project management capabilities that truly helped the team move campaigns forward - so the robustness of Aha! takes care of that and so much more! Now we have a birds eye view of every detail of what we do.

Switched From: Basecamp

Reasons for Switching to Aha!: Because Aha! is even more robust. I used Asana in my marketing firm for years and loved it, but we are not a Google based company and it still had limited options that Aha! beats.

Fantastic Support & Quick Start Up

Comments: The exceptional Support Team has made all the difference in how we've been able to effectively use Aha! to manage projects. They REALLY do respond in a couple hours, the chat function is fantastic for quick questions, and it's very easy to schedule time to talk through more complex topics. The quality of the knowledge base, video tutorials and regularly offered trainings are the best I've experienced. Behind all that is a knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful team of Support folks.

Pros:

Aha! provides a comprehensive set of tools to allow our teams to track work from an initial thought through to completion. Using Aha! we managed an extremely complex software implementation with multiple integrations and were able to track the work at varying levels of detail while always knowing status. Aha!'s My Work dashboard, assignment and commenting capabilities ensured our team members, with minimal effort, could readily identify their work, call out and address roadblocks and communicate progress. Team members who are more interested in doing the work than saying what work they did are converts to the value of Aha!, praising searchability, ease of use and a central repository for all the critical information.

Cons:

Determining the workspace structure proved challenging for us and we are still trying to decide what's the right configuration. Still, there's really no wrong way to set it up and the flexibility and adaptability of the product will allow us to evolve our structure to meet our evolving organization's needs.

Alternatives Considered: Jira, ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus, Confluence and Wrike

Reasons for Choosing Aha!: limited capabilities, poor visualization, high touch for PM and minimal features for team members

Switched From: Smartsheet, Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel

Reasons for Switching to Aha!: Usability and intuitive UI, tagging and commenting, and project management without a big lift for team members who just want to get work done.

Game changing software for product teams

Comments: Very satisfying, this tool has a chance to help us transform as a business!

Pros:

Very initiative to use and can be extremely powerful if setup with some foresight. It is flexible enough to be tailored to any kind of business yet rigid enough to instill needed discipline when using across a team or teams..

Cons:

Not much to dislike. While it can feel expensive, their reviewer and viewer (free users) make it easy to scale across many team members.

Works as expected

Pros:

The layout of the sprint and features is really well done. I do enjoy the look of AHA vs other competitors that I have used. It’s really easy to use and the mobile app is a nice feature.

Cons:

I really don’t care for the search functionality of AHA. I think that I don’t always find things in the way I search or use keywords. A keyword might be in a ticket but it isn’t always found.

An advanced strategic tool with lots of functions and possibilities

Comments: Aha! is the only tool we are using for common road mapping all over the company. Our plan is to also use the idea portal in the future. That will be step no. 2 for us, we just have tested it a bit so far. Roadmaps are prio.no. 1.

Pros:

Aha! is our first common road mapping tool in our company. It helps us to get a common focus on the work to do, and for aligning towards our company strategy. We are getting more and more advanced with different views = roadmaps, but also with the minimum alignment between the different divisions. We use different Release layout, e.g., for SW and for mixed SW/HW.

Cons:

I would say that it is a challenge in the beginning for users like me, that have not a product manager background, to see what to do and where it all fits. So a very easy "Aha! for dummies" guide, like the really good film clips that are found in the Aha! internet pages, that would have made my working life a bit easier. But a really like the short film clips, they are very useful. Maybe that could be an option, to make them available from the data model? The you get a bit more info than the text there, they could be linked to the short films directly. =)

Great product and customer support

Pros:

Its a huge product that is critical for our product managers. The customer support is the best I've seen. The response rate in quick (approx an hour) and its very friendly! Extremely helpful!

Cons:

Sometimes its hard to see what is included in my license and other parts that is not.

Aha for Product Management

Comments: It is quite powerful, and learning will take some time. Overall, quite impressed with the tool.

Pros:

It is very visual, don't need a separate tool for workflows, folks can work on something together, love the whiteboards.

Cons:

There is a huge learning curve, can get quite complex, whiteboards need more options like lucid charts, white boards don't maintain zoom level when you go back to it.

Comments: Our experience with the Aha team is very positive. The Aha team is responsive and product experienced which helps them present best practices for improving our use of the tool.

Pros:

The ability to have discrete workspaces that roll up to a parent or corporate level allows for deep engagement across our team and entire organization.

Cons:

The inability to see features and epics on one roadmap/one view is challenging to tell the complete story.

One of the best product roadmapping tool, if not the best of all

Comments: I was part of the team that benchmarked to product : we did not choose first aha! as it seems to "big", to complex. We came back to aha! because its integration capacity with global software prodution workflow is incredibly powerful, and in the end the software is very ergonomic. Aha! is clearly a masterpiece of software and here to count...

Pros:

It is in the same time very complete and powerful and very simple to use.

Cons:

Kpi building wihich is already a good feature inside Aha! could be improved.

Great product

Pros:

The editing UI is fantastic and their support team is super responsive. I don't use a lot of the features because I am only a part time product owner, but I love most of what I've used.

Cons:

The reports could be more intuitive to locate and the filtering could use some work (support Like/Contains would be nice).
