AVG Internet Security review

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: Great antivirus software with very decent features, definitely telling my friends about this one.

Pros:

It as powerful real time protection from viruses, malware, spyware etc. You have the option to set priority on certain areas you would like to scan as well as full system scan and it also provides protection when using your browser to surf the web.

Cons:

It often picks up alot of false positives during a system scan, especially if you have certain games install on your computer, though there is a way to set the antivirus to ignore certain files in the settings of the app.

You get a highly secure defense. Abundant operations management tools

4.0 2 years ago

Comments: There is no need to install a separate asset management tool, as there are many operation management tools and functions that are included in the antivirus software. Restart, shutdown, messaging, remote assistance in an interactive mode similar to LapLink, and optional WSUS functionality and third-party software updates can be managed. The preview includes all options. The function to forcibly run a virus scan when an external media, such as a USB stick, is loaded into the device is very useful. It is also possible to configure the prohibition to cancel the scan operation by the user. The execution of external media scanning is forced.

Pros:

A full scan after installation removes and quarantines unknown objects in AVG Internet Security Business Edition and copies them to the Administration Server backup area. Configure the detected save hierarchy to scan the exclusion area and restore files from the backup copy. Send the sample to AVG site. The file is quickly verified in the lab and, if it is a false positive, it will be added to the global distribution of the definition database for the next distribution. The distribution of the definition database takes place several times a day and is reflected by the next day at the latest. False detection itself is considered to be problematic, but it appears that other methods are difficult to judge whether an object with few users is safe in the first place. Thorough checks are performed with a policy of detecting even the most unknown or suspicious. A full scan of another company's product may not detect it and AVG does. It is believed that a very secure defense can be obtained from the previous analysis.

Cons:

It is difficult for Support Online to get the necessary items by itself. Searching the site is not very helpful, so I ask the support center for some. About every two years, the software with the end of support notice needs to be updated. You can also use the function to distribute version updates automatically from AVG, but if you have a device connected to the Internet, you can use this method without problems, but for system reasons, you can use it in a closed environment.

Customer Service NONEXISTENT

3.0 4 years ago

Comments: Problematical from day one. Received error message on installation. Never got that corrected.

Pros:

The idea for AVG is great. The price is excellent. First off invoicing turned into a problem as I was billed 3 times for the same software and attempting to explain and have them understand left much to be desired. A coordinated piece of software that incorporates system management, as well as antivirus, should command their market share easily. When customer support is absent only a few customers, have sufficient skills to set up and optimize new software.

Cons:

Billing was an ongoing problem. On my network, when I attempted to add a new machine; the billing was continually a source of errors. I was billed 3 to 4 times when I added a new machine and finally gave up and removed this software. The main problem area was the lack of communication skills. No one in my group could speak the language of the support group and so it stayed an area of serious problems. I still think their program is a good idea, yet it is way too soon in their development and they left the main area untouched and that is/was customer support!

Does the Worrying for You

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: I started using AVG in 2001 when the guy running the IT Dept. at the organization I was working for at the time recommended it. What was really attractive about it was that it was FREE. They do offer paid subscriptions as well but he explained to me that the areas not covered by AVG Free are covered by Microsoft in the security Windows comes with. He was right. And as time went by both AVG and Microsoft improved their security. It was so easy to integrate across all platforms too. I've been a fan ever since!

Pros:

There is nothing about AVG that I didn't like; let me start there. Very simple to download and install on every device and platform I use - desktop, laptop, cell phone and iPad. They all offer it. Once downloaded and installed, they give you a number of different options to choose from depending on the type and level of security you need. It was a seamless process from start to finish.

Cons:

Nothing at all. As mentioned above, there is not a thing about this software that disappoints or a threat that they don't offer security for. As new threats are discovered, they constantly update their software to address those issues as well. Great product all around

avg is solid anti virus

5.0 6 months ago

Comments: all in all it was a solid experience i would say its worth checking in to

Pros:

ease of use and a brand you can trust its median prices for the anti virus and has a decent amount of things you can do with it i enjoy knowing my pc is protected and data is secure while streaming on twitch

Cons:

most of the cost its a good service just feel its still pricy for what you get only if you are a small buisness if you are a large one id recommend it but for solo contractors etc streamers without other people its not worth the money but for anyone else 2 plus people in the company id say get it in a heartbeat if you want quality protection for your data and pc of the company

Basic Reliable Security

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: A decent level of security for free. But if you need advanced security, you will need to pay.

Pros:

There aren't many bells and whistles out of the box here, but it does provide a decent level of security without cost, and has a long history of being a trustworthy company. I would recommend AVG to anyone on a budget needing basic levels of internet security.

Cons:

Over the years, it has started to feel more and more money-oriented. In the past it was completely free and almost felt Open Source, but not anymore.

AVG is one of the best anti virus software to keep my data and browsing searches safe

4.0 5 months ago

Pros:

What I like the most about AVG internet security business edition was that it was very easy to navigate and set up. I've been using AVG for 15 years for personal use so using the AVG for business edition was just as easy and made me feel comfortable and safe when using it for more business safety issues. Making me feel confident when using certain data, invoices and payment management extensions. I felt like AVG was keeping me and my customers safe from any viruses or bugs.

Cons:

What I like least about AVG internet security business edition is the price was a little high. But compared to other antivirus softwares it was a good price so I really didn't mind considering how well it protected my computer and information.

Won't use it, even if it's free

4.0 4 months ago

Comments: It's like the free version but with more features. And that's not good because software quality feels cheap. Menus are not intuitive. Overal experience is bad.

Pros:

Easy installation, virus AND malware detection. The firewall is a nice addition, but navigating in within the rules is a pain. Ransomware protection is a must for business.

Cons:

Firewall rules are not easy. Malware detection is far from good. Engine detection consumes lots of resources.

AVG Free or Paid Version?

4.0 6 years ago

Comments: As mentioned WE've used Both the Free Versions AND the Paid For Versions and You Do Get What you PAY FOR!

Pros:

As we all know AVG has a Free Home version that finds it way in to many Enterprise Businesses that are trying to save a buck. However their Paid Version is much more Robust and does get the Job Done! Therefore if your a Business you really need to purchase their Internet Security Business Edition. We have used BOTH! The Paid For Version is Highly Recommended!

Cons:

I notice a lot more false positives with AVG that without BitDefender Installations but it was a close race! I would say that Price would dictate a lot of the installations we've seen with the caveat that the IT department stay on the ball and run MalwareBytes from time to time to see if either installation has missed something. All these programs have variations on their databases so we've found it's a good Idea to do this.

You get what you pay for

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: Good enough but I wish the free version wouldn't have so many pop ups.

Pros:

The basic version gets it done, it keeps Windows defender at bay.

Cons:

The advertising can get a bit obnoxious, it constantly asks you to upgrade to the pro edition which isn't cheap.

A Great Anti-Virus Software

4.0 4 years ago

Comments: I have used AVG for several years and have recommended it to others. It is my go-to anti-virus now. I have used a number of different anti-virus software programs. This one has proved to be the most reliable, the easiest to install, and to have the fewest conflicts with other programs I'm running or trying to install.

Pros:

It's very simple and intuitive to use. You install it, set it up, and feel reasonably secure that the software will catch, quarantine, delete, or repair any issues resulting from malware or viruses. It runs in the background without interference.

Cons:

It can be hard to find the area you want to set automatic scans or other features.

AVG is a great option for those looking for a free anti-virus software

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: AVG Internet Security is also a great option as it can help with advice on dodgy websites, webcam intrusions and even firewall help. It can also show you if you are being tracked. All helpful solutions.

Pros:

AVG has to be one of the best anti-virus software products out there. I have been using it for a long time now and it has always helped in finding the odd virus or malicious malware. It also regularly updates its virus database.

Cons:

Not many. The only thing is that you have to manually scan for viruses. As long as you do this regularly you will have no problems.

A reliable antivirus, malware and web security application

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: An all in one antivirus, malware and web security that is reliable and secured.

Pros:

It is an all in one antivirus, malware and web security application. The free version gives you the basics for having security in your laptop/pc. With the paid version you will also get ransomware protection that is really good for businesses.

Cons:

The least I like about AVG internet security is it is not cheap but with the cost it also gives you more security on your web browsing and also the ransomware protection is really good to have.

Just don't

2.0 4 years ago

Comments: I don't recommend using AVG at all nowadays. Use what you get with Windows and stay away from the bad parts of the internet.

Pros:

A long time ago, AVG used to be a decent free anti-virus. You could install it and hope that it might catch any viruses or trojan horses before they wreak havoc on your computer.

Cons:

However, since then, it's become a piece of software that's making your computer crawl, they've added a browser "toolbar" that tracks what you do online and essentially crossed over to the dark side.

great product

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: i've used the free & paid versions of the software & they are both quite reliable. i've used them on my smartphone & my pc. it's quite effective on my phone, not as effective as other products on my laptop.

Pros:

avg is a great software for the cost. i've used it off & on over the years. i currently use it on my smartphone.

Cons:

the free version of the software only does so much. but for a free version, it's not bad at all. too bad the free doesn't do as much as the paid version.

Best among best antivirus solutions

5.0 6 years ago

Pros:

It's comprehensive, it's good solution for servers, networks, clients and really effective against malware's, ransomware threats. It is not resource hungry and file scanning speed is also good. Really easy to install and very effective customer support.

Cons:

Installation is an issue especially in network based scenario.Sometimes pop ups generated by AVG are really annoying , detection rate is good but false positives are there too..
