Over the years of using it it got progressively worse. They courted me to leave another service for them and went from offering a free model because I was one of their first users, to then backtracking and charging more than any other service, to then giving a brief window to download my podcasts before being held for ransom behind a paywall. They made some changes and tried to get me to come back, offering a free 14 day trial. I tested it out and the experience was even more convoluted than before and not worth 1/10 the cost so I chose not to continue with it. I got caught up with work and forgot to cancel in time and they charged an expired CC I had on file from years ago \& refuse to refund it. ----- ### "Be careful\! I thought, "Oh, okay, that's a nice way to get back into it." The premium subscription was granted as soon as I clicked on the button. There was no mention of any direct payment. Later, I was shocked to find that they had deducted the entire year's worth of subscription from my bank account. I contacted customer support, assuming it was my fault for having clicked the wrong button. Therefore, I told them they could charge me for a month, but please not for an entire year. Customer support got back to me, saying that I already had a trial and should have known it would sign me up for a year-long subscription (even though their interface offered a trial). With an attitude of "you can be happy we refund you anything." They refunded me part of the money, but less than they should have, even with one month of subscription already deducted. I wrote them that money was missing, and they refused to pay the delta, referring back to "you should have known you already had a trial." But guys - you offered it to me on your website\!? That is your UX bug. Plenty of great platforms like Canva offer their customers several trials. I have had 4-5 trials with Canva and have been a paying customer for many years. I told the Zencastr team this is some of the most unprofessional behavior I have experienced in years. The customer support is a real problem. We do video and audio recording and and Zencastr does both of these for free, which I love. But I have a Mac and after about 30 minutes of recording, the computer crashes. Every time. It also forces me to use google Chrome instead of safari, which runs slower. But the software does get the jobs done.
