> **Pros**: I entered the world of game development with this tool maybe 12 years ago. It was very important and useful to my job. I liked it, because made easier the programming, integration and development of games.

> **Pros**: Open-sourced framework with an active community that has been around for over a decade. If you need help, you're likely to get it from the community. Cocos2d-x is also highly flexible and continues to grow to add more functionality.

> **Cons**: Although support has been added for 2.5D and 3D development, Cocos2d-x is still best used for 2D games. Learning curve can be steep for those who aren't already familiar with basic programming languages like C++ or Python.
> 
> Some of our earliest games were developed on Cocos2d and even with so many newer, more powerful tools available, it remains one of our go-to development tool when it comes to 2D games. Its performance has also improved significantly over the years and games tend to be a lot more stable as far as 2D games are concerned. It's possible to develop for 2.5D and 3D games, but I would not recommend using this for a purely 3D game experience.
