Pros:

It is such flexible and versitlie software program that it actually grows with your business needs. Its not just an of the shelf solution is feels like it grows and adapts to your needs. With the addition of 3rd Party addons you can get this software tailored to your needs. PHPFox is so robust, its excellent a real heavy weight that just doesnt fall down. I have no hesitation in recommending PHPFox , when I started I knew nothing about this sort of solution and they have helped even through what I am sure where some pretty daft questions and support me even today. Customer satisfaction is over loked by software companies but PHPFOX have it in bold. Great customer service.

Cons:

I really dislike the fact I did'nt write it....... There is nothing to dislike, yes with any software program there may be a small learning curve but thats like buying a new car. not a problem just goes with the territory.

PhpFox is a great software for your own social network

Comments: I am very happy to choose PhpFox for our Project and so are our customers.

Pros:

PhpFox is easy to use. It really feels like you are on FB and gives every costumer a great experience. The support Team is very quick and helps you with every question.

Cons:

Some features are not included so you need to customize the platform. Either by yourself or the support helps here too

Use caution with your wallet if you invest in PhpFox

Comments: It has been a very rocky road with phpFox. Just when you get your site running well there will be an update that messes with everything. You will need your own team of developers that will be cheaper in the long run.

Pros:

If you need a social platform up and running quickly it can be done with PhpFox... but it will cost you $$$

Cons:

It is ALWAYS buggy, server resource heavy, and will always conflict with the 3rd party addons. Every update will cause site and server issues. It is very expensive to maintain and expand if there is a need for more features. PhpFox and 3rd party addon developers will always need access to your admin site panel and cPanel because more than likely no matter how experienced of a developer you might be, you will need their help. PhpFox customer service is very expensive and very unpredictable.

Comments: I am satisfied with phpFox. The company has been around for some years and I believe they are understanding more of the desires of individuals seeking its services.

Pros:

Helpful team from and great product. I have been using phpfox for a while now used to build my niche social networking community.

Cons:

PhpFox is a good platform but requires some modification for a personalized social network.

Comments: Phpfox was the best bang for our buck in it's affordable price range, for all the features it offers you really can't go wrong. Their support team is also very helpful.

Pros:

I like how phpfox is easy to use. Easy to setup and most of all their support team was always there to help me along the way. They have been so very helpful.

Cons:

I can't really think of any cons.. Oh I would be mindful when purchasing apps from third party developers. They are not always all their cracked up to be and sometimes they make your site slow or cause issues and getting help from the third party developers can sometimes be less than helpful. But this is not really a complaint about Phpfox.

Review of Phpfox

Comments: Certainly there is a support that works well, the various guides are quite accurate, and also the cost is honest for what the product is worth.

Pros:

I don't speak English very well but I try .. Overall it's a great system. I have been using software like phpfox since 2008, and I must say that it is already excellent but it also has great potential for growth.

Cons:

From my point of view some things need to be improved natively. While for now they can be improved with the purchase of third-party apps.

Cons:

The forum module needs to be further improved. In a software with such a high level of permission and authorization, this forum module is insufficient. I think it should be in a way that it should be placed side by side with 3 or 4 windows in a block rather than the option of adding a desired icon to the topics and a structure that descends in appearance.

One-Stop shop for Web and Mobile Social Media / Content Management Platform

Comments: I started using PHPFox since version 3 back in 2014 coming from a platform named Dolphin. Even then, the stability and the features introduced were far superior. Social Engine comes close, but I think the primary thing that puts PHPFox over all others in it's class is the mobile application for both IOS and Android. You can have your own social media platform up and running and in the app store in a matter of weeks if you stay on top of things. I am in the process of having PHPFox perform custom development to migrate custom work i completed in version 3 to MetaFox web/mobile. Hopefully all goes well. If it does, then I can foresee my company utilizing this solution for years to come.

Pros:

PHPFox is very feature rich out of the box. Marketplace, blogs, forums, photos, groups, polls quizzes... the list goes on. It also serves as a solid content management system. There are plenty of tools to track and monitor site activity. Easy to deploy and install on web host server. Solid development backing from the developers PHPFox also provides the source code for both mobile and web applications at the highest licensing tier. Their customer support is spot on, even though there is an 8 hour time zone difference and all tickets are handled via an internal text based ticketing system

Cons:

While the latest version of PHP is far more responsive and stream lined that version 3, the underlying Laravel Platform is far different from the previous PHP application structure which makes customization extremely difficult if your not familiar with that coding practice. Upgrade from Version 3 to 4 and now to 5 has proven cumbersome with a noteable amount of missing capabilities on some pre existing core features. However, the latest MetaFox V5 is in it's infancy and shows promise if the developers commit to introducing all of the previous features of version 4. License and cost is high in comparison to some competitors. But its perpetual from what I understand and customers are free to modify the code as they see fit to meet their business purposes. Upgrading from one version to the next is extremely cumbersome, especially if there is custom work involved.

All the features seem to be valuable in our platform. Once you dial the build it's fun to create the platform and lots of features to customize what we need. The customer service is a pleasure to work with and always resolve our issues due to our lack of experience in building this paltform.

PhpFox has a steep learning curve for non-developers

Comments: I have been a user of PhpFox for over a decade, and it has gone through many controversial twists and turns and evolutions as the ownership has changed hands several times. It offers a quick way to get a Social Network developed and launched if one is looking for basic features. It has gone through a number of needed upgrades - some of which have been outright failures. It can offer great value to somebody who has good development skills in a Php platform environment, but the coding has been very idiosyncratic in the past and many developers have had problems understanding why things are done the way they have been done. Stuff that should work simply did not work unless one understood the PhpFox way of doing things. Documentation has always been poor, but steps have been taken at times to modernise this, but they have been inconsistent. Customer service has ebbed and flowed, as has the level of support in its community based forums. At one point, it was telling that the company did not use its own product for community support. In the past couple of years, the company seems to have been taken over by one of its major third party module and plugin developers, a Vietnamese based company with an american office. A major problem and source of conflict has always been difficulties in integrating third party plugins which are needed to cater to the needs of a variety of different markets and functionalities. Every Upgrade requires updating third party products.

Pros:

PhpFox started out as a Facebook Clone and offers many of the same features at a one time cost and offers the possibility of custom development of Social Network Websites. A big plus was that it was Open-Source in terms of being able to access and customize the code. Currently, it offers a mobile app, and access to the source code, if you have access to inexpensive developers.

Cons:

There is a learning curve for the product, as it has gone through many twists and turns in its ten year plus span of development, and customer support is inconsistent and expensive. Documentation was poor, and upgrades were always buggy and never free from stress. Support is very inconsistent and expensive if you want to get timely and useful answers, and there have been language barriers in communication at times. There is a lack of transparency in who actually owns the company. Php is a dying language, and probably you are better off starting from scratch with javascript and node and a different database solution in terms of scalability.

PHPFOX is the best platform for creating a social network!

Comments: I can only add that PHPFOX is the best solution for me and the users of my site. I have been engaged in website building for many years at the dawn of the Internet, but I have not yet met the best social platform, like PHPFOX. I would like to wish PHPFOX developers not to stop at an achievement, but to constantly improve - after all, you are the best!

Pros:

For several years I have remained a supporter of PHPFOX due to its scalability, social orientation, mobility and a large number of apps and software attached to it. All social solutions and functions for communication and content sharing are in the wonderful PHPFOX platform and there is no alternative to it on the Internet - people like to be on websites created with PHPFOX and they are delighted with it! Most of all I like the reliability and quality of PHPFOX - the developments of this platform does not stand still and all the time looking for ways to improve it. The presence of a large number of apps allow site administrators to choose the software products that people like most. High-quality technical support and excellent customer service, social orientation and scalability of the platform, a large number of apps make PHPFOX the best software product for creating social networks and social websites!

I like PHPFOX and I don’t see big drawbacks - otherwise I would look for other solutions for creating a social site, but there is no alternative to PHPFOX on the Internet.

Fast and modern look and feel social network software. Staffs are knowledgeable and helpful.

Comments: I love their staffs, knowledgeable and friendly, even sometimes their English is not perfect. The software has a modern look and feel, similar to Facebook, so it is easy to start. Also, it can scale well when I use a stress test tool with a reasonable amount of access and data, so it is good. They also provide services so it is helpful for the small agency in my case.

Pros:

I came to phpfox from ads in google and started with a trial version. Besides phpfox, I also tried some of their competitors and some free solutions. However, none of them provided a free server and free installation, so phpfox gains a plus. I also tried support to ask for a scaling solution when my users grow. Most of them asked me to contact 3rd party developers. Whatttt? Luckily phpFox staffs proposed a scaling model and I can say it works. That's the point. I need a full-stop solution since I am an agency, not a developer. I decided to go with phpfox last year, and I have never regretted.

Cons:

There are several add-ons that the stock phpfox does not offer, so they recommended using other 3rd party developer ones. So I need to contact several people to get the site done. However, it is acceptable as there are several trusted devs there.

Comments: Customer service is very good if you pay for support, the team works very fast except on weekends.

Pros:

The software has everything you need to create a social network. You can start basic with a few features and progress as the community grows. In addition, the mobile application is excellent, very modern, and is at the level of any other social network.

Cons:

It would be nice if the mobile app can be customizable by third party developers.

Comments: I have been a phpfox customer for 7 years; it has been a good journey, support team is helpful and is always making adjustments ( including the way on giving support as well, and that is very valuable).

Currently phpfox team had reach a very good development point, no software is perfect, but the team does a good job making the adjustments.

The software is very feature rich and easy to set-up. Looks great with the available skins. It can be installed set-up and configured in a weekend.

Cons:

There's really nothing to dislike about the software, it does exactly what it says it'll do.

Great software to launch your own social network and mobile apps

Comments: The support team is thorough and attentive. The response speed is the only area that could use improvement. For example, often only one message of correspondence will be sent/received per 24-hour period, which means getting a single thing resolved or question answered can take multiple days. Otherwise, I have been very satisfied with support.

Pros:

A well developed mobile apps that connect to the main software database was important for our project. PhpFox delivers this

Cons:

The ability to share different media/posts/content could use improvement. For instance, only event admins have an easy means to share said events from within the app. Event attendees do not have the same share option from the menu. Also, some things can only be shared within the network/software and there are no means to share outside (like on other platforms). This limits your own site growth. Lastly, the invitation feature (to invite friends to join the site) is available only from the browser version of the software.

Good product! Good customer support

Pros:

Well, I like the whole software in general. phpFox was not the first software I tried, but so far I think I'll keep it for a long period of time. Their support team is really great. They've assisted me in so many ways and I'm thankful for them.

Cons:

I don't like the fact when you uninstall third party plugins, all their settings and database details still stay on your server. phpFox needs to work on that. Give an option to either delete or keep some details.

Comments: i offer a social network for health and care and i believe it is a good software to use for exactly this field

Low price, easy to use, easy to set up, easy to customize, a lot of modules are included, good support

Cons:

it is not really 100% multilingual , many language phrases are not able to translate to other languages, it is complicated to generate clean language phrase files to translate it by yourself, the process of building an mobile app was difficult for me as a rookie

The software is relatively easy to install and if there were any difficulties, help was given immediately, thanks again to the very good support

there were always difficulties with chatplus, especially if you installed third-party providers on your server, chatplus is not exactly very helpful with many problems. The support has always helped, but unfortunately the software is not as reliable as it is advertised

Comments: Not bad for a base to work on if you want to create your own social network but it takes more times than it should to understand the logic of the code itself.

Fresh and current code with nicely updated look and feel.

Little tutorials, constantly searching for infos, community is limited and the english used on the admin is difficult to understand sometimes...the support clearly needs to be improved and the sales support as well...some basics things need to be handled after so long in the market.
