Best tool to find bugs and pain points in your site

5.0 last year

Pros:

- Session Recordings - This really lets us know what are bugs and pain points in your site and having the timeline displaying tips were those actions were made is awsome (F.e, you can see in the timeline when the prospect is frustrated);- Heatmaps - This is very important to get an overall page knowing about what your prospects are clicking and looking

Cons:

The analysis can be very qualitative. I wanted to see more numbers, especially with the revolution of AI

The greatest resource for businesses conducting online transactions is Hotjar.

5.0 last year

Comments: The SEO of websites is revolutionized by Hotjar. As if we had a hidden window into the brains of our guests. A wealth of information is available for comprehending user behavior through the live interviews, user comments, and visual insights. It is also quite easy to use.

Pros:

For individuals looking to increase revenue and maximize their conversion rate, this product is perfect. With Hotjar's features, teamwork will be easier and everyone on our team can gather the data required to make the right modifications to our website pages. They offer 24/7 support and customized training in the meantime to make sure I can get the most out of user behavior analysis on our website. Hotjar allows me to store data for a maximum of one year. If I want to know what's going on our website for an extended amount of time, this is a good alternative. One feature we've refined in FullSession is visitor recordings. In contrast to Hotjar, FullSession doesn't slow down our website aside from offering sophisticated filtering tools and comprehensive analytics.

Cons:

A few customers mentioned that they would have preferred a user behavioral analysis tool with greater depth. Predictive analytics, which could be useful in predicting user behavior, is not available in the software.

Tracking is constantly failing

2.0 last year

Pros:

Just the fact of being able to record heat maps.

Cons:

Our account has been constantly going on and off with an alert about the tracking not being properly implemented. Later, without having changed anything seems to be resolved. It's been like this for 2 weeks now.

Really interesting to see what user really do

4.0 3 months ago

Comments: We use hotjar when we launch a new feature or when we need improve some interface. It's really fun to see user action.

Pros:

Easy to set up. Useful to see what our user do on website or application. Possibility to start hotjar on event. The heatmap allow us to see some unclickable zone. Possibility to add notes on recording.

Cons:

It's not a problem with hotjar, but when we start to recording user action, we have a lot of recording to analyse. But always intersting to see what our users really do.

Comprehensive analytics

5.0 4 months ago

Comments: Combines qual and quant data, allowing businesses for experimentation and ultimately, optimisation. Excellent tool, highly recommend.

Pros:

Initially used it as part of green field platform launch - really helped us understand user behavior (via heatmaps, session recordings, conversion funnels), which is always useful, but particularly crucial this early on in the product lifecycle. Integration and use can be done by most non-techies, which gave us time and space to focus our engineers where it really mattered. Surveys are also available (though should be used sparingly as we quickly learned too many can also be annoying for the customer :d).

Cons:

not really a con, but performance is something to consider when integrating

The best heatmap software

5.0 9 months ago

Pros:

The best parts of Hotjar are the intuitive heatmaps, and visitor recordings, that offer deep insights into user behavior and user interaction based on real visitor data. Once you've implemented the tool - it's easy to of use to get all the data information from your users and visitors, to do research or to improve your website experience.

Cons:

The only issue besides the learning curve could include the sampling limits on larger sites, which may prevent you from getting a complete picture of visitor behavior.

A lot to monitor!

4.0 5 months ago

Pros:

The ability to use the heatmaps to monitor UX and provide visual representation to offer design alternatives.

Cons:

Difficult to breakdown specific users where other platforms have the ability to breakdown from campaigns etc. may have been the package though.

Leading Heatmaps Tool

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Hotjar is very intuitive and easy-to-use for both website heat maps and website sessions recording, they also offers an amazing knowledge base to help users maximizing the benefits of Hotjar.

Cons:

The pricing is a little bet expensive and the plus plan offers access to 100 daily sessions only, I think it should be increased to be 300 at least.

HotJar is an awesome tool for studying websites and optimizing!

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: Overall HotJar is a great platform and I am one of their biggest advocates. I would recommend HotJar to anyone looking to enhance their understanding of on-site traffic and conversion.

Pros:

At each company that I have worked for, I always bring up HotJar as a solution they should implement as soon as possible. It is so easy to use and allows for such a comprehensive view of the customer experience that it's a loss to NOT use it! I love that it can capture click data, scroll depth, and even user interactions on the website. There is so much valuable information to be pulled from the data!

Cons:

There are two things that I'm a little bummed out about with HotJar. One issue is that they recently removed cross-domain tracking. This was a great benefit and we used it often, so not having it is tough. They also have a limit on the height of the pages that can be captured, 1500px. Our pages are slightly larger so we lose some detail on the report that we would have otherwise had.

Hotjar Response

Hey Akande, Thanks so much for taking the time to review Hotjar! It's great to read that you're getting a lot of value from the tool :) It's indeed the case that we removed cross-domain tracking in light of our continued commitment to privacy-by-design. I'm sorry to hear that working with the tool is a bit tough without this - we'd like to help if we can! Do reach out to us at [email protected] if you've got questions. Following up your note on the height of captured pages for Heatmaps - we do have a 15000px limit, but if it's a pain point I'd definitely suggest using the Suggest a Feature function in-app to let us know what you need :) All best, Alex

Excellent for website visitor tracking and future decision making.

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: As a data analyst, HotJar enables me to build, personalize, and deliver surveys and polls to our customers so they can respond and let us know what they like and dislike about our business. The data is promptly updated to our HotJar account as clients submit their answers, allowing me to analyze it right away.

Pros:

The most crucial component of our platform—and the one that has gained it the most popularity among our research teams—are the heatmaps. Heatmaps are used to show users where they can scroll and click on our website after they arrive.Contrary to popular belief, knowledge is not only useful but may really be quite helpful to marketing teams. There are two possible explanations for why someone would scroll down our page: either they don't like what they are reading or they want to read more of it.I can only benefit from this feature if our website has a sign-up form or requests that visitors fill out forms. Form Analysis, as the name implies, informs me of how users interact with and utilize our forms. Utilizing such data will help me lower the amount of unsuccessful attempts to complete our form.

Cons:

Some features should be improved compared to other platform. Price should be customized. Heatmaps feature may be upgraded more.

Comments: The benefits of using this tool is well worth it.

Pros:

Using Hotjar to create heatmaps has been really helpful for us to understand how to help our clients with their websites as well as showing the clients what we need to do and why.

The best insight you can get into the use of your website

5.0 2 years ago

Comments: This takes the guesswork out of UX testing. The session recordings offer true insight into your users' experience and quickly demonstrates where improvements should be made.

Pros:

Simple to implement this just works, giving you heatmaps and session recordings for true insight into how people use your site.

Cons:

I'd like to be able to access my hotjar session recordings directly from Google Analytics. I think at the moment it only works the other way around.

5.0 2 years ago

Pros:

Perfect for understanding how visitors are interacting with your website in real-time. You can see what pages they visit, where they click, and even record their mouse movements. Invaluable insights for improving the user experience and increase the CR.

Cons:

There no intrinsic con to the platform but time itself. Time to analyze all the data and insights that you could extract. Usually we over estimate the time dedicated and the efforts that we will put in tools like this one. So, usually they went under-used.

Cons:

Freemium level features offer great visitor insights

5.0 5 years ago

Comments: My primary use of HotJar is the click tracking and scroll depth features. I'll occasionally use the visitor recording feature. These reports alone provide invaluable information for my web clients to get an idea of how effective their sites are in generating conversions. The surprise benefits of the click tracking is that we can see where people are clicking on spots that are not actually intended to be and I can adjust the UI design to downplay those areas to create a better user experience. The scroll depth gives me a better handle on what important information is not being reached by visitors and helps me decide how to best move that information further up the page stack to ensure that visitors see what we need them to see.

Pros:

Easy to deploy tracking script to sites Async loading doesn't impact user experience Reports are easy to read and can be shared with clients Free tier provides more-than-adequate reporting for most small businesses

Cons:

I can't actually say anything bad about the pricing structure, the admin panel, or the product quality they deliver. If you're a small business looking to get insights about your visitors' habits, this is an awesome free tool.

Best Analytics Software

5.0 4 years ago

Comments: We use hotjar as a "testing" tool. We test our users and make the necessary changes to increase our sales. We monitor our user's actions, we learn and understand what people don't like, don't understand, what confuses them, what makes them leave, what they like and prefer and we adjust the interface, the products, the banners, the layout. It's cool!

Pros:

We love the funnel feature where I can setup funnels to track the conversions and drop-offs. Our whole business is based on sales funnels and Hotjar makes it very very easy to track users through our pages. The fact that we can later watch in a video our users activity is priceless. Device splitting is very useful because we can monitor all user's movement and make the proper changes.

Cons:

I've got nothing to comment here. Their free plan is very good and we know that many of our customers don't upgrade to paid plans because of that. The only thing I want to suggest users with shared hosting, if they have high traffic website, it may slow down the page load and it would be nice to upgrade to bigger server.
